Gallery Forbes

Our new creative space coming soon.

The Forbes Arts Society purchased the former Forbes and District Ambulance Station at 110 Lachlan Street, Forbes in December 2019. The site will be developed into a vibrant, civic hub. A space that encourages locals and visitors to create, share and experience art and culture as well as meet, gather and connect with one another.

Orange-based firm, Source Architects were engaged in 2020 to develop the final design for the Centre in consultation with key project partners and the wider community.

The prominent two-storey building is set to house expanded art galleries, meeting rooms, workshop and event spaces, and a café. The design incorporates sustainable features, is fully accessible and includes a lush courtyard to become a local gathering point.

The design is an adaptive reuse of this prominent local building – sensitive to the site’s Local Heritage Significance status, whilst incorporating a beautiful yet functional contemporary extension.

The Centre is planned for completion in 2025.

The Forbes Cultural and Arts Centre development is part of the ‘Boosting the Lachlan Valley Economy Art Project’ which is proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Regional Growth - Environment and Tourism Fund, the Forbes Arts Society, Forbes Shire Council, Lachlan Shire Council and Evolution Mining.

Take a virtual tour through 110 Lachlan Street. Thank you to Michael Robinson and Co. for capturing the 3D images of the building prior to construction commencing.
